The meeting will be held in person and may be accessed remotely by phone or computer.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING 

ON PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO GROUNDWATER DISTRICT RULES

The Board of Directors of the Southwestern Travis County Groundwater Conservation District will continue a public hearing to receive comments on proposed amendments to District Rules during its regular meeting on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 9:30 AM at the District office, located at 8656 W Hwy 71, Bldg. A, Ste. 224, Austin, TX 78735.  


The proposed amendments include changes to 1) definitions for certain use types; 2) eligibility criteria and permitting requirements for certain General Permit categories; 3) well spacing requirements; 4) well construction standards; and 5) restrictions during certain drought stages. The proposed amendments are available for public review at the District office by appointment during business hours and online here.


Interested members of the public are invited to participate and comment on the proposal.  Comments may be submitted verbally during the hearing or in writing by 5:00 PM on September 5, 2025, by mail to P.O. Box 340595, Austin, TX 78734, or by email to admin@swtcgcd.org.   


Following the hearing, the Board may adopt the amendments as proposed or with revisions based on public input or recommendations from staff or advisors.

Well Registrations

All existing wells in Southwestern Travis County GCD must be registered with the District.

Registering your well is free and provides data needed to protect existing wells and to communicate important updates to well owners about aquifer conditions in their area.


To register an existing well, use the online registration form or download a registration form here to submit via mail or email (additional instructions are provided on the form).


To apply to drill a new well, modify an existing well, or to plug or cap an existing well, submit a completed Well Drilling Authorization/Modification Application, available here, with the applicable application fee (additional instructions are provided on the form).
